Information
about STEREO-A close approach to Earth, August 2023
Solar Orbiter maximum southern latitude, 25 April 2028
This figure shows the orbital configuration of STEREO Ahead (red) during
the period when Solar Orbiter (orange) reaches maximum southern
latitude, centered on 25 April 2028. The positions of Solar Orbiter
are plotted at one day intervals from five days before maximum latitude to five
days after. The sense of motion is counter-clockwise. During this short
period, the motions of STEREO and the planets are negligible in the
Heliocentric Earth Ecliptic coordinate system which follows Earth's orbital
period.
Note that the projected location of STEREO Behind is also plotted.
However, that spacecraft is not currently operational. Follow
this link
for more information.

The following figure shows the progression of Solar Orbiter
through the fields of view of the STEREO/SECCHI telescopes. The images are
simulated, based on data from earlier in the STEREO mission.
