Parker Solar Probe encounter with Venus, 21 August 2023
This figure shows the orbital configuration of STEREO Ahead (red) during
the encounter of Parker Solar Probe (orange) with the planet Venus on 21
August 2023. The dashed orange line represents the orbit following the
encounter. Both spacecraft are close to being along the same radial direction
from the Sun, as are any near Earth.
Note that the projected location of STEREO Behind is also plotted.
However, that spacecraft is not currently operational. Follow
this link
for more information.
Also shown is the projected position of Solar Orbiter (purple) based on
a February 2020 launch date.
