STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2024-05-07 (Week 19) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 18 (April 29-May 5) * On day 123 (May 2), APL network engineers successfully conducted the network infrastructure hardware replacement from 0000z to 0100z without affecting the MOC DMZ network. * On day 123 (May 2), during the DSS-63 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 1128z. This anomaly resulted in the loss of eight frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.5 Gbits during this week. Week 19 (May 6-12) * On day 127 (May 6) at 06:05 UT the antenna was declared red. The problem was eventually corrected and the antenna is now functioning normally, but the problem persisted until day 128 (May 7) at 06:50 UT. Operators were unable to reposition the pointers to recover all of the affected data, resulting in some permanent data losses. * As a result of the problem on days 127 through 128, Ahead now has nine passes during the week, all at 720 kbps. * On Wednesday, May 8, from 16:40 to 20:40 UT, the MOC will be testing a new Unicast data delivery service, with the intention to transition permanently upon successful testing. The existing Multicast delivery will be run in parallel during the test, and no service interruptions are expected. * On Friday, May 10, SECCHI will be conducting a special observing campaign targeting the star Betelgeuse from 12:00 to 14:00 UT. No spacecraft maneuver is required for this campaign. Week 20 (May 13-19) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * On Thursday, May 16 an ESA Cebreros track is scheduled from 06:05 to 08:05 UT. Week 21 (May 20-26) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * On Wednesday, May 22 an ESA Malargue track is scheduled from 07:50 to 10:45 UT. Week 22 (May 27-Jun 2) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will be closed on Monday, May 27, for the Memorial Day holiday. * The 167th momentum dump is scheduled for Friday, May 31, with ignition at 18:30 UT. Week 23 (Jun 3-9) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 24 (Jun 10-16) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal.
