STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2024-12-03 (Week 49) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 48 (Nov 25-Dec 01) * On day 336 (Dec 1), during the DSS-65 support, turbo decoder lock was lost briefly at 04:08 UT. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 26 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. * On day 331 (Nov 26), the 172nd momentum dump was executed successfully at 20:15 UT, which imparted an estimated delta V of 0.047 m/sec. This was the 91st momentum dump conducted without gyro use. After thruster operations completed, there was a 0.7 degree of roll angle error. Fine pointing stabilized 3.4 minutes after completion of the momentum dump. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.5 Gbits during this week. Week 49 (Dec 02-08) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * On Tuesday, December 3rd, APL network engineers successfully performed the MOC quarterly IONET IT security scans. Week 50 (Dec 09-15) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The seventeenth battery discharge event is scheduled for Monday, December 9th, at 18:40 UT. * The 73rd SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Friday, December 13th, at 15:50 UT. Week 51 (Dec 16-22) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * There is a DSN network maintenance event scheduled for Tuesday, December 17th, from 00:00 to 04:00 UT. * There is a PIT test with station 25 scheduled for Thursday, December 19th, from 17:50 to 19:35 UT. There will be no SSR playback or instrument commanding during this test. * Beginning Friday, December 20th, SECCHI will be conducting special observations in conjunction with the Parker Solar Probe perihelion, through December 29 (days 355-364). Week 52 (Dec 23-29) * Ahead has fifteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * On Tuesday, December 24th, Solar Orbiter will have an off-point event in conjunction with the Parker Solar Probe perihelion. * APL will have a half day on Tuesday, December 24th and will be closed all day on Wednesday, December 25th, for the Christmas holiday. * There will be no telecon during the week, due to the holidays. Week 1 (Dec 30-Jan 5) * Ahead has thirteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will have a half day on Tuesday, December 31, and will be closed all day on Wednesday, January 1st for the New Year holiday. * There will be no telecon during the week, due to the holidays. Week 2 (Jan 6-12) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 173rd momentum dump is scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, at 18:00 UT.
