STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2024-09-03 (Week 36) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 35 (Aug 26-Sep 1) * On day 241 (Aug 28), DSN conducted a Mission Network Maintenance from 1500 UT through 2300 UT. After the maintenance, the MOPs team verified the SLE telemetry and command connectivity with DSN. * On day 242 (Aug 29), during the DSS-55 support, the transmitter tripped offline at 1035 UT, due to a hardware problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 22 minutes of commanding, 2-way ranging, and 3106 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the track and recovered all the affected data. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 6.9 Gbits during this week. Week 36 (Sep 2-8) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will be closed on Monday, Sep 2, for the Labor Day holiday. Week 37 (Sep 9-15) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 72nd SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Thursday, September 12th, at 12:40 UT. Week 38 (Sep 16-22) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17th, from 10:00 to 11:45 UT. * The 170th momentum dump is scheduled for Thursday, September 19th, with ignition at 22:00 UT. Week 39 (Sep 23-29) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Wednesday, September 25 8pm-9pm EDT APL will be performing network maintenance that will affect internet conductivity. * Beginning Thursday, September 26th, SECCHI is observing the Parker Solar Probe perihelion, which will cover day of year 270-279. Week 40 (Sep 30 - Oct 6) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * A DSN network maintenance event is scheduled from Wednesday, October 2nd at 22:00 UT to 06:00 UT on Thursday, October 3rd. Week 41 (Oct 7-13) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Other * PLASTIC is still looking over the results of the PLASTIC MCP voltage increase on Day 235. The response looks good. They are evaluating whether they should do it again.
