STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2024-08-20 (Week 34) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 33 (Aug 12-18) * On day 225 (Aug 12), during the DSS-63 support, the antenna was declared red due to a hardware problem. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 2.5 hours of real-time telemetry, command, tracking and SSR data. All affected data was recovered on the subsequent DSS-14 track, except for the loss of 2.2 hours of SECCHI data for day 225-2340z thru 226-0154z. See DR #M117225 for more information. * On day 226 (Aug 13), during the DSS-55 support, SECCHI SSR Partition 19 reached 100% full for 2.2 hours from 225-2340z to 226-0154z. This was a result of the lost DSS-63 track on DOY 225. * On day 226 (Aug 13), the 169th momentum dump was executed successfully at 1300z, which imparted an estimated delta V of 0.051 m/sec. This was the 88th momentum dump conducted without gyro use. After thruster operations completed, there was 1.0 degree of roll angle error. Fine pointing stabilized 3.6 minutes after completion of the momentum dump. * On day 227 (Aug 14) during the DSS-55 support, the uplink was mistakenly configured for the shadowing DSS-65 station. The uplink was eventually re-configured for DSS-55. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 595 frames of SSR data due to the mis-timed uplink sweeps. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers during the support and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M117231 for more information. * On day 227 (Aug 14), APL network engineers successfully performed the MOC quarterly IONET IT security scans. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.2 Gbits during this week. Week 34 (Aug 19-25) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * An ESA Cebreros track was completed successfully on Wednesday, August 14. Week 35 (Aug 26-Sep 1) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * An ESA Cebreros track is scheduled on Wednesday, August 28 from 01:45 to 02:35 UT. * On Wednesday, August 28th, a DSN network maintenance event is scheduled from 15:00 to 23:00 UT. Week 36 (Sep 2-8) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * APL will be closed on Monday, Sep 2, for the Labor Day holiday. Week 37 (Sep 9-15) * Ahead has eleven passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 72nd SECCHI stepped calibration roll is scheduled for Thursday, September 12th, at 12:40 UT. Week 38 (Sep 16-22) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17th, from 10:00 to 11:45 UT. * The 170th momentum dump is scheduled for Thursday, September 19th, with ignition at 22:00 UT. Week 39 (Sep 23-29) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * Beginning Thursday, September 26th, SECCHI is observing the Parker Solar Probe perihelion, which will cover day of year 270-279.
