Description of action(s)/problems(s):
New flight matrix lookup tables are needed
for on board event processing. Three of the tables contain information
about the calibration of
the solid state detector energy system and the time of flight
system. These three tables allow a conversion from raw data to
pseudo-physical
units for on-board processing. The fourth table is used for
on-board generation of the SIT matrix rates. There are 128
such rates, read out
once per 60 sec. Each ion event analyzed by the instrument has
its pseudo-mass and energy calculated using the first three
lookup tables
and a simple algorithm. Then, the computed pseudo-mass and energy
are looked up in the fourth table to see if they fall within a
pre-defined
range that is associated with one of the 128 rate counters. If
they do, the counter is incremented; otherwise the event is not
counted.
This allows SIT to generate particle spectra with 60s time
resolution. The tables and algorithms are described in more
detail in the SIT
description document on the HET & SIT web site
(http://epact2.gsfc.nasa.gov/STEREO/docs.html).

Comments:
New tables were added to the SIT_FSW20040903 binaries, no coding
changes were made. The software version on the HK will
still read 0903. There are now 2 differnt tables, one for
each flight model, therefore the flight code binaries will now be
different and can be distinguished by the table checksums mentioned
about that are contained in the HK packet.
